Easy dosing & use

One pump of Matriarch 20 (approx. 1/8 teaspoon or 0.5ml) delivers 10mg of bioidentical progesterone. This 2% concentration is designed to support your hormonal needs at different life stages:

For cycle support:
Try using just half a pump daily during the week before ovulation - many women find it helps with mood and energy while supporting more regular cycles. A cycle tracking app will come in handy.

In perimenopause:
Women with irregular cycles due to perimenopause, often find 1-2 pumps once or twice daily works well to alleviate perimenopausal symptoms.

In postmenopause:
One pump daily might provide that gentle support you're looking for to feel a sense of balance and wellbeing.

Natural and Bioidentical, Plus Ultra-Micronized for

Maximum absorption

When it comes to progesterone cream, particle size matters. Larger particles can absorb poorly and inconsistently, leading to reduced effectiveness and potential skin irritation.

Matriarch Balance Creams are formulated with ultra-micronized progesterone, featuring exceptionally fine particles for maximum absorption. The progesterone is derived from raw materials extracted from yam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is ovulation important if I don't want to get pregnant?

Because it's the way your body creates androgens, estrogen, and progesterone. And those hormones make you feel good and, you know, like YOU.

This isn't entirely due to the hormones themselves, but rather the way they communicate with your brain.

For your nervous system to run smoothly and not give you anxiety or affect your behavior, the ovulation process has to run its preprogrammed course without disruption.

Aging and other factors influence ovulation, and eventually we run out of eggs.

Progesterone cream, used the right way, can be like grease to the ovulation wheel—keeping things running smoothly and easing both the transition into perimenopause and the journey through it.

Do I need to test my progesterone levels first?

No. Please don't feel you need to do hormone testing first. Testing (whether saliva, urine, or blood) won't give you actionable information. Here's why: progesterone is produced as a result of ovulation. If levels are low, it simply means you didn't ovulate in that particular cycle—which has already passed and can't be changed.

Every cycle is unique, and you can only influence your next cycle with progesterone support. You already have the data you need: your age, whether your cycles are regular or irregular, and any cycle-related symptoms you are experiencing. That's enough information to give progesterone cream a try.

Where do I apply it?

This formula is best absorbed through the palms of your hands and fingertips, where you have lots of sweat glands that act as excellent highways for the small progesterone molecules to enter your bloodstream.

Other areas with many sweat glands include the soles of your feet, your face, and the groin area. Avoid applying the cream to areas with more subcutaneous fat like the belly, hips, or thighs, as this will only delay absorption. There's no need to "rotate areas" of application.

How do I apply it?

This formula absorbs best through the palms of your hands. Rinse your hands and forearms with warm water before application for optimal absorption.

For small amounts: Rub the cream into the center of one palm using the fingers of your other hand.

For larger amounts: Apply to the inside of your forearms using your palms and fingertips, massaging until fully absorbed. Avoid sun bathing on treated skin.

Remember: Keep treated hands and skin away from children and pets until you've washed your hands. Don't pet animals with treated hands. Don't allow pets to lick areas where cream has been applied.

After 15-30 minutes when the cream is fully absorbed, washing your hands won't reduce effectiveness.

When do I apply it?

Timing matters with progesterone cream, so we recommend tracking your cycle with a diary or cycle tracking app to know when to start and stop to get the best results. You'll receive more detailed instructions in the digital user guide that comes with your order.

Why do I apply it?

It's always good to remember why you're doing what you're doing. We've learned to think of progesterone cream as a tool, not a supplement like a vitamin — something you use with intention to support the ovulation process and, indirectly, help regulate your menstrual cycle and the hormonal communication that drives it. It has very little to do with "levels".

But what if I don't have a cycle anymore?

It can still be useful. You stop ovulating in perimenopause, but the process of trying to ovulate — the hormonal cross talk — never stops. This is what causes perimenopause symptoms. Some progesterone during this time can help calm things
down. In postmenopause, things have usually settled, but you might need prescription MHT with estrogen to feel your best and protect your bones. A
small amount of progesterone cream can still benefit you, but as a complement —
it cannot replace MHT or the progestin component of MHT.

How much do I apply?

Not much at all. A low dose is key to stimulating ovulation during the follicular phase of your cycle. A high dose during this time can actually disrupt ovulation instead, and we don't want that (although it can't be used as a contraceptive, by the way.)

Use 5-10mg daily. One full pump delivers 10mg and half a pump gives you 5mg. If you're unsure, less is more in this case. You can use half a pump morning and evening, or one full pump either morning or evening. Find what works best for you.

If you have PMS during the later half of your cycle (or heavy bleeding), you need a higher dose of progesterone cream during the luteal phase. That's what Matriarch 100 is for. Combine the two.

The further into perimenopause you are, and the more irregular your cycle becomes, the more helpful it is to use a bit more progesterone cream. Use 1-2 pumps morning and evening of Matriarch 20 every day without a break (only take a 7-day break if you get a period).

If you're postmenopausal, you can use 5-10mg of progesterone cream daily without any breaks. It's also safe to use in combination with hormone therapy (MHT).

How long does a bottle last?

The strength, or concentration, of progesterone in Matriarch Balance Cream 20 is 2%. A bottle contains 50ml of cream. The pump dispenses 0,5ml of cream with each full press.* A bottle contains 100 full pumps of cream.* One full pump of cream contains 10mg of progesterone. Half a pump contains 5mg of progesterone.

*These values are approximate as there can be smaller variations in volume due to manufacturing and transportation issues (like air bubbles).

Is Matriarch cruelty free?

Absolutely. No animal testing, no animal ingredients.

Wash your hands after application, and if necessary, cover the treated area with clothing. Do not sun bathe with treated skin. Cover the area with clothing or wash the treated skin before sun bathing. After 15-30 minutes when the cream is fully absorbed, washing your hands won't reduce effectiveness.

Storage & Best By

The expiry date is printed on the bottom of the bottle. Once opened, use within 12 months.

The cream can withstand freezing, as long as the texture is not grainy after thawing.

Store in a cool place, out of direct sunlight. Bottles can be refrigerated for long-term storage. However, do not apply the cream while cold, as it may not absorb as well. Let it come to room temperature before use.

Packaging & Recycling

Bottle, pump, and lid are made of HDPE plastic and contain no metal parts. Recycle the empty bottle and lid as plastic.

If there's any cream left, pump it out and throw it in household waste. Please don’t compost, pour down the sink or drain, or flush it down the toilet.

Benefits of airless packaging:
The advantage of this bottle design is longer shelf life without unnecessary preservatives, since no air reaches the cream. You'll also get nearly every drop of product because the bottom plate pushes the cream up until it's completely empty—nothing gets stuck on the bottle walls.

The label intentionally doesn't wrap all the way around the bottle, leaving a small gap so you can easily see how much cream remains.
