Why does ovulation matter if you don't want to get pregnant?
Read the full explanationBecause ovulation is how your body makes its own estrogen, progesterone and androgens, the hormones behind mood, sleep and energy. Your period is simply what follows when an ovulation didn't lead to pregnancy. When ovulation gets disrupted, by perimenopause or high blood sugar for example, the result can be anxiety, poor sleep, brain fog or mood swings. Used on the right days, progesterone can boost the signal from your brain that triggers ovulation.

The right dose on the right days
Matriarch 20 is used in the days before ovulation, so it works with your cycle instead of against it. Before ovulation, less is more. After ovulation it's the opposite, and that's what Matriarch 100 is for.
After you order, you get a step-by-step guide showing exactly which days to start and stop, based on how long your cycle is. The guide also covers perimenopause, when cycles turn irregular, and postmenopause, when there's no cycle to follow and a small dose has a different job.
Questions before you order
Do I need to test my progesterone levels first?
You don't need to. A saliva, urine or blood test won't tell you anything you don't already know about whether and how to use progesterone cream. If you're still cycling, progesterone is made after ovulation, so a low result only means you didn't ovulate in the cycle that was tested. That cycle is already over, and the cream works on your next one. If ovulation has become irregular or stopped, low progesterone is expected, so a test only confirms what your stage already tells you. Your age, your hormonal life stage and the symptoms you notice are what matter, and that's enough to get started.
How & where do I apply it?
Rub it into the inside of your forearms with your palms. Progesterone passes most easily through skin with many sweat glands, like your palms and fingertips, and less predictably through areas with more fat, like thighs, belly and buttocks. Rinse your hands and forearms with warm water first, and wait 15–30 minutes before washing your hands. Keep treated skin away from children and pets, and cover it or wash it before sunbathing. There's no need to rotate where you apply it.
How long does a bottle last?
It depends on how you use it. Used only in the days before ovulation, one bottle can last six months or more. Used daily, one pump a day lasts about three months, and one pump morning and evening about six weeks.
Concentration: 2% ultra-micronized progesterone.
Volume: 50 ml, about 90–100 pumps.
Per pump: one full pump gives 10 mg of progesterone, half a pump 5 mg.
Pump volumes vary a little, from manufacturing and from air bubbles picked up in transport.
Tip: the label has a small gap so you can see how much is left. The bottom 3 cm (1¼ inches) holds the pump mechanism and never contains cream.
Is Matriarch cruelty free?
Absolutely. No animal testing, no animal ingredients.
Ingredients
Keep in mind
For external use only. Keep out of reach of children, and don't let the cream transfer to children or pets. If it causes a rash or itching, wash the skin with mild soap and stop using it. Don't sunbathe with treated skin: cover it with clothing or wash it first.
Matriarch 20 doesn't prevent pregnancy. By supporting ovulation, it's more likely to do the opposite. If pregnancy isn't the plan, use contraception.
Storage & Best By
The expiry date is printed on the bottom of the bottle. Once opened, use within 12 months. Store in a cool place, out of direct sunlight.
Bottles can be refrigerated for long-term storage, and the cream can withstand freezing as long as the texture isn't grainy after thawing. Let it come to room temperature before use, since cold cream may not absorb as well.
Packaging & Recycling
Bottle, pump and lid are made of HDPE plastic and contain no metal parts. Recycle the empty bottle and lid as plastic.
If there's any cream left, pump it out and put it in household waste. Don't compost it, pour it down the drain or flush it down the toilet.
Benefits of airless packaging: no air reaches the cream, so it keeps longer with a lighter preservative system.
The bottom plate pushes the cream up until the bottle is empty, so nothing gets stuck on the walls.
Natural and bioidentical but also...
Ultra-micronized
Particle size is the spec almost no progesterone cream lists, and it's why two creams with the same percentage on the label can behave completely differently.
About 95% of the progesterone particles in Matriarch are under 1 micron.
Smaller particles mean far more surface area, so the progesterone absorbs more evenly than a coarser powder can.
The cream sink into the skin evenly instead of sitting on the surface, where larger particles are more likely to irritate.
It's USP-grade progesterone made from a yam-derived raw material, not soy.
